Anzac Day
Anzac Day is one of Australia’s most important national occasions. It marks the anniversary of the first major military action fought by Australian and New Zealand forces during the First World War. This year marks the 95th Anniversary of Gallipoli.
ANZAC stands for Australian and New Zealand Army Corps. The soldiers in those forces quickly became known as ANZACs, and the pride they took in that name endures to this day.
The Research and Information Centres (RICs) have received a number of resources about Gallipoli and the ANZACs from the Department of Veterans’ Affairs. The resources include a very interesting DVD of two documentary films, Revealing Gallipoli and Australians at War. Call into your RIC and have a look at the ANZAC Day display.
