International Day of People with a Disability
Celebrations were held at Gympie campus today kicking off at 1.30pm with Member for Gympie David Gibson welcoming everyone to a special unveiling of this tile mural with the IDPWD logo to fifty plus people in the crowd.
Roxanne McGregor, Peter Harris and Emma Rice made special mentions of all the people who contributed to the mural and events surrounding its creation. And a big thank you to David Tester, who was kind enough to donate his services for free, installing the mural on our wall.
Each tile was decorated when still soft, with a different face by local interested folk (mostly people with a disability). The logo was then painted overlaying these faces using coloured glazes. The tiles were then fired on site in the TAFE kiln to over 1200 degrees Celsius.
